One Battle After Another

So good. Big and bold and beautiful.
I complain a lot about movies being too long these days
but this one used all of its run time for good.

The Gay Deceivers (1969)

A very supple film.

In a few years ch will think movies should be 22 minutes.

I watched wake up dead man, it was enjoyable. The lighting was wild.

One Battle After Another is the best-paced film since Silence Of The Lambs.

Prove me wrong

Can't stop thinking about The Gay Deceivers.
Makes me miss watching ridiculous stuff like it with a group of friends.
I'll probably end up watching it a dozen times in the future.

Fackham Hall

Carry On Downton meets Airplane.

Starring Damian Lewis, known for his comedy chops, of course.

It's fuck awful.

It made me mad. Quite possibly the worst thing I have seen in a long time.

But it's a rare mid-budget comedy, and, in 2026, those should be celebrated.

I wasnt accusing anyone of anything here but im ok if I don't see another movie with Nicole Kidman because she isn't comfortable getting older and so I am like meh when she plays a mother to adolescent children when I know she's like 60 I've never seen her in a grandmother role

Overall fine. Mostly an interesting glimpse into 70s NYC.
Fun to see a young DeNiro. Not outstanding otherwise.

Mostly an interesting glimpse into 70s NYC.

Jesus indeed.

Is it one of the most significant artistic explorations of urban alienation, loneliness, moral decay, and the search for meaning or purpose? Nahhh. It's just New York 1970's disco aesthetics.. Overall fine.

What's next? Raging Bull is about boxing?

Overall fine. Man helps people find jobs. It was nice to see Liam Neeson actually be good at acting. Not outstanding otherwise.

Super fun.
idk if it was due to the 3D or what
but the framerate was dealer's choice constantly,
so it would flip between 24 and at least 48 frequently.
It mostly worked.

The person I saw it with didn't notice it until I mentioned it afterward.
It's just kind of funny and the application isn't consistent.

But the movie is a lot of fun. I haven't seen the second, but the first was great, too.
Big action and set pieces and plot without ever insulting the viewer's intelligence.

First time I've ever seen Jemaine Clement do an American accent, which was weird.
