A flag softly swaying by the hot summer early evening breeze, colourful sports cars meandering dangerously through downtown streets with confidence, and all-up-in-your-face "big sweaty muscles" homoeroticism.

The Taste of Things 2023
The soundscape is rich. Sounds including kitchen sounds, woodpeckers and the lead actor is a bit of a mouth breather so yeah ..
Cinematography is stunning
It was up for Palme d'Or. Don't think it won. Because of the mouth breather I think
Half the movie was watching them cook. It's a feast for my eyesSet in France in 1889, the film follows the life of Dodin Bouffant as a chef living with his personal cook and lover Eugénie. They share a long history of gastronomy and love but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.

Civil War
Sad I missed it in the theater.
I’m such a sucker for a good Alex Garland joint.
Incredible mastery of image and sound.
Made me cry for sum rzn.
I liked it.

typical
it was a perfect film until the very last shot.
she is using an old school film SLR. They pussed out by not making it a still photo, as shown two dozens of times in the sequence that led to it before.
A still image would have been so much more powerful. And why shoot in video, in black and white, using still camera film grain? It makes no sense. if it's the character's POV, she would have seen this in colour through her viewfinder.
It belittles the craft the Kirsten Dunst's character loved so much.
That choice left such a bad taste in my mouth.

ah yes, also known as the Glen Powell effect.
Have there ever been a more milquetoast leading man that's been repeatedly rammed down our throats as if he's good?
Glen Powell will never be a thing.
Glen Powell is what you get when it falls to financial analysts green-light movies. He looks moviestar-ish enough
Yet no one wants to fuck him. Do you know someone who wants to fuck him? No you don't. Because no one wants to fuck Glen Powell because Glen Powell is this generation's Jeremy Renner.

Beau Is Afraid (2023)
There were so many awesome things in this film.
The direction, cinematography, acting...
I don't even know what to say about Joaquin at this point.
He's just incredible in this. That said, I didn't enjoy it much.

I thought I posted a response. Anyway, basically said I'll probably watch it again at some point.
There's so much going on that I'm sure I missed stuff and there's something really compelling about it.
I think it's just me right now, like it filled me with dread and anxiety,
so not a comfortable watch for me for whatever reason.

in edge of tomorrow everytime
she knows her timeline will not succeed and her life is over imminently - she knows she doesn't ressurect
she still goes out the next day and tries her best; maybe being a soldier makes peace with that easier than other people would
took a break from beau to watch some edge of tomorrow for the whatever time
actually back to edge of tomorrow spoilers but moreso sequel speculation (because i believe they're going to make a sequel)
Spoiler
emily blunt has to kill tom cruise, she must also accept she's going to die on the beach the next day right?she knows her timeline will not succeed and her life is over imminently - she knows she doesn't ressurect

Spoiler
maybe in one of those timelines where tom cruise fails before they even ship out to the battlefield she deserts and escapes; everything falls to the aliens but she is still alive and there's still factions of militia (if those are the right words) that survive the hostile world, have their own society maybe underground; eventually for the sake of the movie she finds one of the blue aliens and gets the groundhog day power again and saves the day
I should watch that again.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - Extended Edition, on a 200 inch 4K projector at my bro's new place.
Screen was new though so wrinkled and ill fitted, but it had to be tested.
The theater room is in it's infancy.
I had never seen the extended editions before.
I kinda don't care for the extra stuff, a lot of it doesn't feel/isn't polished, and I think the edited down versions are better.
Added stuff is for nerds, and imo doesn't contribute much of anything to the story as presented.

Your opinion is the correct one
but don’t tell the nerds.

I'm 20 minutes into it and i'm wondering where is the murder mystery

One Battle After Another 2025
This is as close as you're gonna get to seeing Leo Di Caprio in a comedy
It's a really good movie but if it ends abruptly like Paul Thomas Anderson did for There Will Be Blood or Phantom Thread
Then imma be mad
Great performances thus far

So good. Does Bong Joon Ho miss?
So good. Does Bong Joon Ho miss?
Plot, structure, cinematography. Everything works.
But actors direction is absolute dog doodoo. No one seems to be in the same movie.
There is a language barrier between him and the actors, and it shows.

It definitely didn't bother me. Everything was weird enough to not make that stand out.
