the latest season/eppy is very wow

i cant remember how i reviewed the show when it first came out a few years ago
bc we lost all those very important and lifechanging posts in the great slorum crash
but it was something along the lines of:

incredible atmosphere, beautifully shot and written
but im not sure this subject matter is something we should be giving a shit about anymore
(or praising or dignifying or something like that)

anyways. that sentiment still stands - but from a purely creative standpoint
its... wow
i think its safe to say the sentiment toward these characters and their situations/transgressions has become quite a bit more hostile this season.
im not sure if thats a direct result of the evolving sociopolitical thing in society,
but its a few shades darker now

i agree, what i saw was really good and i was very interested in all the characters right away and the direction it's heading. . .
but i'm only 3 maybe 4 episodes into season 1 because i can't focus and there's just so so so many movies shows constantly piquing my int
i will make a point to get some (r)eps in; i think it's the only hbo thing i'm watching right now

i love it when shows trick you into sympathizing with the wrong characters the first time through,
even though the MASSIVE red flags were right there from the beginning.

the neil patrick harris game show "what's in the box?" was surprisingly good.
in particular, it did a good job of blending the game show format with reality tv,
where each team had little confessional-style interviews, and alliances/backstabbing are baked into the game structure itself

Watched Ha Ha, You Clowns. It was everything I wanted it to be. Instant classic.

I just watched two minutes of the first ep and I'm still laughing.
Whole season's on Max so I'm gonna be pringling this one for sure.

I loved the dude's work on the youtubes. His ability to draw facial expressions is second to none.

Still wish other youtubes guy show China, Il had more seasons. Easily my fave.

I watched some Animal Control
and did not care for it.
Felt made by committee.

We're like 4 episodes away from finishing The Last Kingdom (plus the movie) but with everything going on in minneapolis, my husband doesn't want to watch anything violent right now but he also doesn't want me to finish it without him. I just want to be done with the series!

Anyway now we're watching All Creatures Great and Small and its just pretty, fluffy nonsense. There was an entire episode about an obese pekingese having to go on a diet. I do enjoy the Yorkshire scenery, though.

Still rewatching Mad Men.

My wife came up with a fun game where anytime you see someone suddenly light up a cigarette or pour and suck down a drink, you instead imagine them taking out a phone and scrolling furiously and it really works every time.

I love mad men. I've probably rewatched it about 6 times, and every time i notice something new.

i watched the first episode of that and disliked the main character so much that i didn't want to see what he was going to do next.
like, i honestly don't know if i was supposed to like him, or love-to-hate him, or hate-myself-for-liking him, or a mix of all that,
but i didn't get hooked in any of those ways.
kind of reminds me of the second half of the sopranos,
where i was just so disconnected to the characters that their antics just didn't mean anything to me
