Strabismus isn't double vision, though double vision can be a symptom of it, but it isn't always.
My kiddo had strabismus surgery. She'll probably need it again someday.

The 50k IU is vitamin d2 that's meant to be taken once or twice a week. I had a similar problem when I worked 2nd and 3rd shift. My doc put me on it twice a week for 8 weeks, then started a 5k unit daily regimen. It got my levels up, but they were still suboptimal. It really didn't get back into normal range until I started working regular hours and stopped being so nocturnal. Make sure you're taking it with some food that has a little fat in it since it's a fat soluble vitamin.

Yeah, it’s a high number for sure but my D was like really low. Apparently this is a common short-term approach with the end game being that I take a much smaller daily dose after the 12 week ramp up.

Did you notice symptoms when yours was lower?

Idk it's been low for years so I couldn't pinpoint any symptoms. Maybe autoimmune shit and depression. I'm just impressed and kind of mad my doctors didn't suggest/offer a mega dose like that, especially given I had it tested in summer and was already taking 1k and spent a lot of time out in the sun so it's like yo this is peak levels right now

It's bizarre because there is like no dominant eye, and focusing one unfocuses the other.

I was blaming my two different kinds of laser eye surgery I had 15 years ago. One has the flap and the other doesn't... and it kind of seems like they drifted in quality ever since then. But it was only recently that I sort of self discovered it was more of a consistent focusing issue than any myopia.

Welp, eye insurance is turned back on for this year.

depending on your country and level of insurance - get it looked into. it would get better and worse at times... Sometimes I'd be watching TV with one eye closed, driving with one eye closed...

I went for one testing session and she gave me a $60 plastic thing to stick on my glasses and it utterly changed my life. It's not perfect or I wouldn't be going for surgery... I've had it on my glasses for at least a year though... and you can also just get glasses built that work better (but cost more)

I am doing well. Surgery was monday morning and once the anaesthesia wore off and they gave me back my glasses there was an immediate, noticeable change/improvement. My prescription is 10 years old because i was repeatedly advised not to get new glasses in case I had to get glasses with prism built in or something... so I've been having somewhat of a problem differentiating between blurry and double vision.

But I can sit in my comfy chair and watch a movie and not have to squint or close one eye and that's been pretty amazing.

My eyes still feel dry and a bit heavy and if i look different places too much it feels tiring/sore but I had 2 muscles connected to my eyes cut and reattached so that's pretty normal i think

I did an hour of weightlifting the other day, and that didn't bother my eyes at all (makes sense but you know.) In fact it was nice to do something and really I could just close my eyes for most of it, which was nice.

I was invited to go for a 6-7 hour hike tomorrow, which normally I would have loved to do, but I have declined, I don't want to be out on a mountain with tired eyes, trying to wind my way down rocks and whatnot.

Light sensitivity shouldn't really be a thing with eye muscle surgery but i'm finding i do enjoy some ambient darkness a little more than before. My wife took me to the grocery store yesterday, normally my happy place, and I found I wanted to get out of there within about 10 or 15 minutes

Yesterday, my wife and I went out to a mall and a few stores and just forced myself to spend basically the whole day changing my focus and depth of focus

At first it felt like a little bit much, like I'd turn my head and my eyeballs would lag behind

But by the time we got back a few hours later, it felt like it made a big improvement.

I also ran into my surgeon at Ikea - coincidence of all coincidences. That blew my mind.

I had an appointment with her today for a followup. She thinks everything is looking really good, with the minor thing that some of my stitches are dissolving faster than expected and she wants me to go back on the antibiotic/steroid for another week because of that

I drove home after the appointment, first time in 10 days or something.. and I'm going to play volleyball tonight. Wish me luck

Actually, the night before surgery I reread the papers they gave me and read for the first time a sentence on the paper that said like

At no time will the eyeballs be removed

and i had never considered that as a possibility before. Never considered them taking theme out... suddenly it was all I could think about
