It's not much of a production line, but anything that reduces the cost of an EV is welcome. Here's to what is hopefully a good start.

i'm pretty sure my next vehicle will be electric... but we've been a one-car couple for 16 years now (wow)
It will be good to have an affordable EV alternative to Tesla.government spokesperson said:“more than 50% of these vehicles will be affordable EVs with an import price of less than $35,000.”
The electric Kona is priced below the standard Model Y in 2026, I think, but there's speculation a BYD could start at $35,000 CAD, which would blow both out of the water.

I cri“Dear Prime Minister Carney: Please let this Letter serve to represent that the Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada’s joining, what will be, the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled, at any time,” Trump posted on social media.
Oh no our opportunity to bribe Trump and whichever failson he appoints to chair after he's gone. Whatever will we do.
I'm so sorry you are no longer invited to the poopoopeepee dirty diaper party, Canada.

the most prestigious board of leaders ever assembled? Like, not the Allies and not the UN and not the EU and not the Five Eyes Alliance... but a group comprised of the US and like 20 eastern european and african countries???

Manitoba brings in 13 U.S.-trained doctors as it looks to improve access to care

After working in the U.S, Krikorian says Manitoba’s publicly funded health-care system allows him to focus more on patients and less on administrative barriers.
“I don’t spend my lunch hour on the phone with insurance companies anymore and I can actually use that time to care for people,” Krikorian said in a news conference Friday morning.
He added that Manitoba is an appealing place to practice medicine, citing physician autonomy, human rights protections and quality of life. “Here care is based on need, not what someone can afford,” he added.
Oh wowGovernment data shows Manitoba currently has the highest rate in Canada for same-day or next-day access to a health-care provider, according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information.

I'm not. The voting rules were carefully engineered to avoid anyone other than true believers weighing in.
My friend is running in the University-Rosedale byelection as the NDP candidate to replace Freeland.
She's legitimately one of the smartest people I know and her politics are impeccable. If you're on that side of politics in her neck of the woods, supporting Serena Purdy would be a good move.

Ive seen on Reddit that someone can claim canadian citizenship back to 5 generations. Do youknow if this is true, and how one could prove this connection? My Grandson is very concerned about being in America. He has a great great who came from Canada.
If I understand Bill C-3 corrently, what it did was remove the first-generation limit for transfer of citizenship.
So, before, if you were born to Canadian parents in, say, Germany, you would become a citizen. But if you grew up in Germany because of your parent's work, and decided to live your life in Germany, and had kids with another German-Canadian, your own kids would not become Canadians, they'd just be German. But this was an issue because a lot of those first-generation German-Canadians had a lot of connection to Canada, they would vote in Canadian elections, visit Canada often, even have property in Canada, etc.
So what C-3 did was just remove that limit entirely. If you a born to a Canadian parent with a "substantial connection" to Canada (which doesn't mean living in Canada, it could mean having lots of family you visit regularly), then you automatically become a citizen now.
If you aren't a citizen because you were born under the older rules, you need to apply and ask for the new rules to be applied to you, granting you citizenship. But the new rules still need you to have a Canadian parent.
So to go back that any number of generation to get your citizenship recognized, you need to go back to the most recent proven citizen whose children fell outside of the first-generation rule and lost their citizenship. If that person is still alive, they can apply for Canadian citizenship under the new rules and will receive it. If that person also kept a substantial connection to Canada, their own children can then apply for citizenship; if those children also kept a substantial connection to Canada, the next generation can apply, so on and so forth, until you get to the youngest generation.
So you need to both have a chain of applicants going back to the most recent proven citizen, all of whom maintained a connection to Canada. This might be kinda difficult for fifth generation applicants.
It's not like the Italians where all you have to do is prove you had an Italian grandparent, period.

Canada unveils auto industry plan in latest pivot away from US

Carney's announcement on Thursday follows a deal with China last month that will see Canada ease tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles that it imposed in tandem with the US in 2024.
Canada also unveiled an agreement with South Korea last month that is set to encourage Korean car manufacturing in the country. Both agreements could undercut US car firms.
https://globalnews.ca/news/11653721/canada-auto-sector-strategy-2026/Canadians who purchase or lease a battery-electric or fuel cell electric vehicle will receive up to $5,000 and up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrids priced up to $50,000.
“To support the Canadian auto industry, this $50,000 cap will not apply to Canadian-made EVs and plug-in hybrids,” Carney said.
“And these incentives will only apply to vehicles produced in countries with whom Canada has a free trade agreement.”
