Yeah, I'm one of the guys who condenses month's worth of daily, hour-long conference calls down to the 2-3 hours of work that has to be done. Let's see AI try to do that!
finally got a raise after several years of nothing 3% lol fuck this market
i guess it matters that they at least never cost of living adjusted my ass though. I'm not sure why and I'm not going to ask. Everyone else did after the covid shuffle. but here i am still getting LA rates in Portland. That would have been a nasty ~20% hit.
Co-worker called me just now, wondering how to do something. We talked for a while because I couldn't understand what he wanted. He literally just had to click two things, but just didn't do it? Just changing units from meters to US survey ft. Like it was some serious thing we had to talk through? Bro, click, click, done. WTF, why are you calling me?

Third year of making hockey mini golf features for Red Bull. This year there's an event called the World Juniors which I guess is kind of a big deal so they're out on some fake ice bullshit called glice that has introduced complications.
Ugh first day back I've been thinking dreaming about scaling back work or retire altogether The work is fine and I'm held in high regard but also these 2 weeks off may not have been enough to unburnt out
My company owner lives in Oklahoma. He was talking real big about people moving there and working in the office building he just got. How personal interactions made meaningful connections. Buddy, there's an open google meeting we're all on every single day, never seen you there.
Lol, how about fuck you, as well. Oklahoma is like bottom 5 in every single lifestyle ranking ever. You couldn't pay me enough to live there. Hell, Tulsa will pay you $10k a year just to live there. Literally.
anyone commute an hour and a half to work? I have an opportunity to apply for a job making 20k more than I do now in a field i think i would do well with.
I had an hour commute (2 hours of my day total) for 3 years before COVID hit. I would work from home about half the week back then to avoid the drive... then permanently starting in 2020. Work has a "If you live more than 30 miles away you can be full remote" policy... in a straight line I'm 25 miles from work... but the commute on the highways was more like 45-50 miles. So I had to get an exception, but did.

I did over two years of a 60+ minute commute, but I'd do it on a monday morning, stay with my folks, and drive back on a wednesday night.
Kinda jacked my life up but this was 2020-2022 so life was all about being jacked up during that time thank you.
twice now i lived 2-5 minutes from where i worked, only at different times. had i not bought my house and stayed in my apartment, it would be a 10 minute walk to iur company’s new building. im still a little miffed
