Black eyed peas and rice. Collard greens.
Reheated the other night but Ely had gotten into the greens
So I chopped up some mushrooms and made a gravy which was weird but it worked.

Skip the mushy peas, but I'm gonna fuck the rest of that up. I could totally go for for some doner right now, with or without chips.

Oh man. When I was in Turkey, we visited the town of Bursa.
This restaurant served doner, served over triangles of pita bread, drizzled with clarified butter, and tomato sauce. Huge plate, never thought I'd finish it but it was amazing.

I was trying to figure out for a damn long while why "Bursa" was so familiar to me...
Finally remembered that it was because I was playing the Ottomans on a play-by-email Civ 5 game that took like 1.5 years lol
So I'd see that city name nearly every day for a long time.

Ochazuke has been my lazy breakfast but I've been putting in effort to feel like I'm actually doing something.
So now it's been leftover rice, an egg, a American cheese single, takana, kimchi, and black sesame seed.
It almost feels like it defeats the point but I manage somehow.

the woman likes that kind of breakfast (both actually, but prefers the eggier fare.

my lazy bkfst has remained unchanged for a couple years now.

i make Greek yogurt every couple weeks and that's about all the effort

then some bran cereal, sunflower seeds, oj, frozfruit, like half cup of yogurt and top with corn flakes for dat cronch. maybe a lil drizz maple
or half scoop protein powder if I'm feeling swole
totals out to about 3c of content altogether

that will hold me till dinner
i think i like it equally for taste, nutr. content, and zero cleanup.

I spent some time this summer in Collioure France. Apparently they are famous for anchovies. I had never had anchovies, so I figured I better try them. Now I can't stop eating anchovies.

My in-laws arrived in town, having driven from Fresno, so they were pretty zonked.
Ely pulls me aside and asks if I can make dinner for them.
I decided this would be an excellent time to wing it.
I had a pound of cavatappi, a pound of English peas, cremini, so I was like, easy.
Start diced yellow onion in olive oil and butter, add mushrooms, add garlic.
Start butter in another pan to brown, add peas, garlic, and mint.
Start the pasta in a pot. Pick some thyme.
Scoop half the peas into the pan with the mushroom and onion. Take stick blender to the remainder.
Add pasta and its water into the pan with mushrooms and peas, add thyme, black pepper, grated parmigiano.
Pour blended brown butter peas over and toss it.

It was good. FIL had two servings. MIL always wants me to cook and usually finds a reason not to eat it, but she went for it of her own accord.
I celebrated by taking a shitty phone pic of it in the pan.
