Got out today and hit the track...steady walk for a mile, then plyo. Got home and did the cold plunge. I gained 6 lbs over the last few weeks and want to lose that before my cruise on the 8th.
I plan on meeting and boning all the chicks, so I gotta get my stamina of a year old back
heading out into the at times questionable but probably best footing we gonna get for the next few days will probably overdress a bit because i've had enough of the wind
no one out there tonight wind was cold but not persistent footing was fine good start to the running year; not even sure i overdressed - i got a new face mask/neckwarmer but never had to pull it on it wasfine to just let the face go numb or heat itself and now just finished eating a bowl of buckwheat and beef and kale and sweet potatoes - not a huge fan ofsweet potatoes i wanted to add beets but there seems to be a beet shortage for a few months at the groce thank you for reading

Last time I was at the gym, before today I mean, they told me that my auto-draft had stopped and I needed to pay. I didn't have a card with me so I told them I'd pay next time I was in. So today I told the lady I needed to pay and she said okay, but she wasn't able to set up an auto-draft, so she just charged me for a month. The thing is, when you do the draft, it's $5 cheaper per month. But she charged me the non-draft price, which I think is unfair. I'm not complaining though, because there's been a problem with my payment for a long time, and I haven't paid shit since October 2024. I knew, too. I was just waiting for them to say something lmao.
I just hit my 2 million meters rowing milestone this morning. That's the equivalent to almost exactly half the distance across the US from Wilmington to Barstow via I-40, or about 1/201th of the way to the moon.
Home. I have a Hydrow Wave, if you'd like a recommendation, although the normally more expensive Origin model is cheaper with the current sale going on. The build quality is solid, and it's very quiet. If you do go with a Hydrow, be advised that while it doesn't require the subscription service ($40/month), it was and is worth it for me. Without it, you can still see the metrics for your current workout, but you won't get the audio/video of pre-recorded library of workouts with/without the athletes, a record of your sessions, live sessions, etc.
Apologies. Looks like the subscription is $50/month now. I think they knock off some if you pay for a full year instead of month-to-month though. Any number of people can set up profiles on the same account though, if more than one person in your house would be using it.
i could've used a rowing machine instead of going running tonight - footing was super slippery and unpredictable, not the icy slippery which i can deal with, but the slushy midfoot/heel random slides which make for a run where you rarely get in the groove and you can't slow down or change direction too fast or you might slip weather network kept saying snow in the next hour but i took my time getting ready and it had already started by the time i headed out - said scattered flurries but at -4C it's messy eventually running on the road on the sidestreets somehow seemed less treacherous then the main roads sidewalks but still at times felt like i was drifting side to side bouncing of one solid piece of snow across the road to another and then back like an air hockey puck losing steam or a bright green high viz half asian dvd screensaver furthermore actually that's it rant over

thanks zero I'll have a look but I'm antisub and a cheap bastard so I'll check for people chucking them out on the curb first but appreciate the rec. I do like the water based row machines and i think it'll be good for my shoulder
Be sure to learn the correct technique, if you haven't already. I'm sure there are probably YT vids out there. Before I started, I assumed it was mostly pulling with back and arms. It's more like a sequence of 80% pushing with legs while sitting up straight with arms fully extended, then transferring to core to lean back slightly, and only pulling using arms and lats at the very end of the stroke. Once you get that down, you can shift focus to your split (time per 500 meters), which is controlled by the amount of effort you generate, and rowing at various stroke/minute rates.
I love rowing hard for 20 minutes as a cardio thing at the gym
You couldn't pay me enough to crew again.

My wife got me a Brooks running jacket thing for Christmas. It's pretty neat, I guess. It's a super light, unlined, windbreaker type thing that's water resistant. It has a hood with some elastic on the front so it can hold onto the bill of my hat. I like that. I'm sure it cost way more than I would have been willing to spend on myself. I haven't run in it yet because it's been unseasonably warm, but I can see it helping to keep me from overdressing someday.
