I know I keep going on about it, but have you tried a rowing machine? Great for cardio and easy on the joints. Plus, done right you can burn calories more than twice as fast as speed walking on a treadmill at full incline. It's the only form of regular exercise I can say I really enjoy.

Bro, I used to row a shitload. You might be right, do a rowing thing on back and shoulder days.

I lost a lot of my weight exclusively on the elliptical and rowing. I've since changed to elliptical daily with a rotation of rowing, arms, legs and then core.

I lost 70 lbs in like 5 months over the whole covid thing. Gyms were closed. I just stopped eating everything.

I've been riding bike for like 10-11 miles recently. It takes like 35-40 minutes though.

Felt pretty good today and the calf injury wasn't angry. Got up and hit the track. 3/4 in the calf let me know that its still not feeling well.

I decided that I'm just gonna rest it from here until the holiday is over until I try again. Not stoked on it, but there's not much I can do about it. I'll do easy walks an keep on the plyo until I can run again...

I've torn a calf a couple times. Feels like a hot rubber band running up your calf. I'm fucking terrified of tearing my achilles. So I just walk fast or ride bike for cardio.

I'd been thinking about starting light jogging, mixed with my daily walks.

Unfortunately, after passing out* & falling awkwardly in the bathroom about a month ago it's taking a long time to start increasing intensity.

*
Spoiler the meds I'm on keep my heartrate low (mid-40s resting), and if I get up too quickly I can feel a bit woozy. Add being on diuretics, and getting up to pee several times a night, I passed out in the bathroom, which is a poor choice of places to be fall over.

What woke be up was my leg getting really hot from pressing on the baseboard heater. Reconstructing my wipeout, looks like I bonked my forehead on the mirror over the sink, slumped, and slid along the counter, bonked the back of my head on the bathtub, and slumped on the tiles against the heater.

I didn't fracture anything, but it was a couple of weeks of feeling pretty shitty, old & busted.

Yikes! If I found someone passed out with a 40 bpm rate, I'd be readying for CPR.

It was terrible timing, my Wife was on a 3 week holiday in Korea, Hong Kong & Taiwan, but I'm reasonably functional now. I just make sure that I wait until the heart rate is up before heading to the bathroom at night.

dang phapster glad it wasn't worse, i hope you're better now! - i feel like of all the head bonks, the mirror and bathtub were probably bouncier and safer than if you had hit the edge of a counter or sink

--

and then to quickly make it all about me today's run was a slog because of freezing drizzle (first time ive seen a "yellow warning" on weath network lmao)
but it was warm ish i wore shorts and a waterproof and was fine but man the footing was so unpredictable at times: like if a certain immeasurable amount of slush would build up on my sole, and then i would plant my foot in more slush (which is unavoidable ofcourse) the slips were like weird horizontal and clockwise or counterclockwise blips from the midfoot or sometimes further back but not as fast as normal slips so it was real weird like i said; normally when it's icy i just assume every toe push off will be a slip and my brain and balance sort of work it out but it was just random crap for a lot of parts today
so it really rook a different kind of focus at times, but whenever there a block where a bunch of places had rocksalted the heck out of everything just grip it and really push it which was nice
saw one other jogger earlier that gave me the confidence to head out, but no one else when i was out there

thanks and it's funny you post that i was at one point running through some slush in front of some townhouses fronted with tiny yards and those wrought iron black spiky fences right at the sidewalk, but only like a foot and and half or maybe a bit higher than that, and i thought if i slip sideways suddenly imagine i impale on the fence like a mortal kombat fatality

i have a wierd but completely justified fear of walking/running alongside 5ft chainlink fences
those angry twisted spikes that terminate right at eye level always make me think of that Dali film

My regular route takes me by the zoo and I run right along the cheetah exhibit and so there are cheetahs literally across the street and I think about that a lot.

so that got me watching cheetah videos on youtube
got to this usain bolt vs cheetah 3d speed comparison

and it's just so stupid and pointless, mayeb there's informative commentary i watched with no sound,
in fairness "usain bolt view" maybe caused a bit of a chuckle but overall just ehh
and why is the youtube channel called Global Data

so stupid

just had my yearly physical.

i don't own a scale at home
so ive only been guessing that I've lost some weight based on feel and sight

last visit i was 192
this visit 168.
my goal weight had been 175 for a long time now
of course, until this year, i was doing little to nothing about it
except grabbing my cookie pouch in the mirror and getting mad at myself then doing the truffle shuffle

ima keep going until i can fit into my prom dress again

Bought a shitty little steam sauna from costco for 200 bucks. It actually helps a lot post-workout. I'm usually a wobbly noodle after leg day but 15 min in steam takes care of that right away.

Finally back down below 200 after thanksgiving damages. Just in time to fuck it up again this next week.
