I'm over whatever that out of the blue IT band issue was about. Making gains in the gym and avoiding injuries. Shit's good at the moment.

I'm down 50+ pounds since the start of the year. Calorie counts and a protein shake after 15 mins of elliptical and 15 minutes of a rotating exercise plan on a near daily basis got me there. Officially no longer obese per BMI.

I was out of the gym for about 4 months from a shoulder. No idea what caused it, my best guess is taking a suitcase out of airplane overhead. Woke up the next day and was super painful. Some small rotator cuff tears and inflamed tendons. Was incredibly painful. Then just as soon as it came, it left. Fuckin weird.

I've been taking it easy on weights now that I'm back. 3 sets of 10, two exercises per muscle group. Been concentrating a lot more on cardio. Biking, rowing and fast paced walking.

you just need to lift every day of your life and you'll never have shoulder problems someone once told me

never don't lift

I always heard guys in the weight room having shoulder problems, but I had 0 after lifting for 30 years. But man, when you got shoulder problems it's all you can think about. You can't do anything without hella pain.

Mine got so bad I had to wrap up my arm, tied to my body, with a rib support thing I got when I cracked my ribs. The smallest movement when sleeping was excruciating.

You see the MRI, and the doc is like "the shoulder isn't really even a joint, it's just a mish mash of this and that". And to fix it? Wait and see or shrug.

"Chili Day" at work. Well, I don't eat potluck. More like press your luck, am I right?
Anyway, while everyone else was stuffing themselves with dog hair stew, I went out for a run. In the rain.
Don't get fat and sick, get fuckin ripped. That's like my motto or something.

What's worked for me was doing a little exercise every single day, and gradually increasing the time & distance.
I was well over 200 lbs in 2019, down to about 150 now.

Bought a treadmill couple months ago
I really like it
I'm running twice a week at 30 mins each.
Looking to ramp up to 3 times a week.
If I wasn't so busy ..
From: japanface #19
Date: 11/25/25 @ 5:23 AM
much respect bbb; i think i started almost identically with the twice a week 30 mins and then push it to 3
what time of day do you get to it?
From: Zero #20
Date: 11/25/25 @ 11:50 AM
I was doing the 3-12-30 on the treadmill 3 days a week and rowing between 20 and 45 mins on 3 other days, but turned it way up since mid-September.
Now I'm still doing the same treadmill routine but rowing all 7 days a week. Trying to hit my 2 million meters milestone by Jan 1.

about to go for a windy/mixed precipitaion run thinking about shorts but also beh might just overdress a bit
From: japanface #28
Date: 12/03/25 @ 6:53 AM
coldest run of the year tonight and did not overdress so the start of it had the usual considering if i had made a mistake
but there was basically no wind and it was a great one in the end i think

but the real highlight of the run was i saw a freaking toyota century just driving along like it was no thing
what the hell isn't that like a unicorn in the world of cars? also sounded absolutely silent, it was one of the ones from the 90s dual exauhst "c e n t u r y" letters across the back; i tried to catch up to see what side the steering wheel was on but was not fast enough for that

even colder more frigid run tonight -13 feels colder but no wind so it was fine
i took the face gaiter (gator?) thing in case but didn't need it once i got into it face either went numb or stayed warm or a combo of the two
i noticed earlier in the day walking from the subway my nose was frozen in about 5 minutes and face super red when i got inside but running in even colder weather later it was fine so i have a theory that running the engine keeps your face heated a bit too

anyway i didn't see any other runners out tonight which is weird because as cold as it was, it's not unheard of, and the no wind makes it invigorating and exciting footing was fine etc.

Running outdoors is harder than on treadmill even in good weather. Having to adjust to traffic and tripping hazards is more strenuous than the unchanging 5mph speed I do and watching my stories while doing so
I'm all over the place as to when I do run. I don't have to set schedule which is probably not helpful

Started intermittent fasting about 1.5 years ago and dropped 15 lbs. That was from just fasting, and truly not watching what I was eating in between.

A few months I began running and plyometrics in the park, and really concentrating on what I was eating, figuring I'd lose some pounds and get more fit. I don't know why, but I can't drop the weight. I lost abut 5 lbs but kept gaining it and then losing it...but hovering in the same general area.

I injured myself so I haven't run in about a week, and gained 7 fucking pounds...
...thats very frustrating...

That's got to be water weight, unless you ate an extra 24,500 kcals in your sleep.

Stranger things have happened.
The thing is, my water dispenser died so i admittedly haven't been drinking as much water. I've kinda given up and am just making sure that I'm still watching what I eat and hitting the track next week with the hopes that the nagging injury eventually gets better

when I was at my healthiest and was mindful of everything I ate and tried to get in as much walking as possible, I would gain 7-8 pounds every weekend. I would lose it by tuesday. Salty foods and such.

splitting wood is definitely cardio

I'm still getting after it 2x daily, 5-6 days a week
with hiit cardio/core and feeling pretty good
if i pull back my 10pm cookie pouch,
i even have a solid sixer

Thanks. Its fucking drag getting old. My nagging injuries come from not going easy on myself when I was younger. But still, at I have more energy and stamina than most year old's and I get complimented on it a lot.

I'm thinking of taking up running just to get my cardio done faster. At present I'm riding bike for like 10-12 miles and that takes me 30-35 minutes.

I'm not sure my body can do the running though. I have three screws in one ankle and a foot surgery on the other side, and then three knee surgeries between the two of them. It's a mess. It's why I generally do non contact cardio.
