It cleared... hell yeah.
video games

Note that the actual gun at that Field-Tested quality (many rungs down) only goes for $113... but that fkn sticker I wasted a decade ago I guess is the attraction.
Finishing Subnautica and Doom 64. I love them both.
Moving onto Miles Morales and Doom Dark Ages next week.

I started playing The Outer Worlds (Spacer's Choice Edition) since the sequel came out. It has been a lot of fun and scratches the RPG shooter itch I didn't really know I had.
I also kind of got back into City of Heroes, which I haven't played in 20 years. The live service of that MMO died over a decade ago but one of the private servers got an official license for the game from the developer and it's completely free, as the private servers are run off of donation. The game shows its age but it had a lot of things going for it had it not been completely overshadowed by WoW.

I hear mixed things about Outer Worlds, but everything in the concept appeals to me. It’s fun, eh?
I enjoyed the first one. Haven't played 2 yet because the week i had some game downtime you had to pay extra for "early access". Fuck that shit. So now I'm waiting for a sale because fuck them and i have arc raiders.
I tried it for a bit and felt like if i gave it more time I'd probably like it. The shooter mechanics felt a bit clunky TBH.
I was going to wait to get Outer Worlds 2... but now that I have $600 burning a hole in my Steam pocket.
I guess it's like barely 10 AAA games... or like 20+ nicely priced games.
...
Anyone need a game and want to venmo me? lol

back when rust was popular and steam had those gem for money things, made $5 from the "gems" then bought a skeleton hoodie that i could craft on any server. It was a unique item and looked cool. When I slowed down my play of rust, put it on the market for $30 and promptly forgot it. A year later it sold. The game cost $20, so got paid a few bucks to play the game for hundreds of hours. really kinda blew my mind at the time, but since then have not made a dime.
I've been enjoying it. The shooting mechanics are a bit clunky compared to pure FPS but on par with or better than most other RPG shooters I've played. Story has been fun and the satire has been hilarious, at least to me.

our roommate wrote some mini-reviews of a lot of games and it's really fun to read what he wrote.

hmm, you may be wrong. do you know your bat type perchance
I haven't used my gaming PC in a month and half and it feels really strange.
Like why is this monitor so big? What is a mouse?
But I've got a week of staycation and $600 in my Steam account from Gaben.
Time for some BF6, Hogwarts (free from Epic), and some game called Mind Diver.
Also going to finally buy that Star Wars Outlaws ($21 rn) and maybe even Starfield... but jesus, $70.00 still feels wrong.

I really had a good time with Outlaws.
It's definitely not flawless, but it was consistently fun and immersive.
Be sure to go through ALL the config settings (there are so, so many) and tweak as needed. Some of the defaults are head scratchers, especially speeder and ship controls.

Outlaws was much better than the incels and reviews said it was.
I restarted Palworld and made it to building out my second base, but it just isn't as fun single player.
Other than that I'm still just playing my main game:
MTG Arena - Historic & Historic Brawl
StarCraft II - Co-op, 1v1, & Line Tower Wars Re-engineered
Heroes of the Storm - vs AI & ARAM
It's weird that 90% of my game play time is on games over a decade old. Maybe Arena technically isn't, but the base card game certainly is.

I wish Stile were here. Then I could talk with him about how good the new update to Minecraft is.

Wow, yes. As a weirdo who has to go through every single config option and consider them thoughtfully... I was quite impressed.
Even the audio menu had stuff that went above and beyond in there.
I let Stalker 2 sit for a year and finally grabbed it.. about 20 hours in and I'm having a lot of fun despite some of the creatures being absolute bullet sponges..
Stalker 2 was a damn good time

Got a Dreamcast for Christmas. You can just burn games to a CD-R and this thing is like okay sounds good.
Amazing.
I love the d cast and I also have a case of burnt Dreamcast games somewhere. I did eBay a lot of original ones tho like skies of Arcadia and shenmue

I did that with that one game where you switch your ship between black and white....Ikaruga?
yea ikaruga
there was one iso floating around that had like both ikaruga and street fighter on it, it was cool

lol yeah it was "compatible with windows ce" so it got a few windows game ports. I think rainbow six might also have been one of those.
I missed a lot of games on this thing, my parents got me the console then bought me like three games for it and nothing else. Excited to get to shenmue
i know rival schools is on steam now as part of a capcom pack but get rival schools!
I loved the Dreamcast.
Got the keyboard and played 300 hours of Phantasy Star Online
before swearing off MMORPGs forever.
Dave Mirra BMX, Unreal Tournament with keyboard and mouse.
I owned two of them and both had the disc drive die.
I remember how cool it felt to hook one up to a VGA monitor.
I did not have a gaming PC at the time.

I was looking at used hardware earlier but I guess there are adapters now and it seems like it'd be significantly cheaper to go that route.
Gauntlet Legends holds up really well. This game is still so much fun yet so simple.

There's even an adapter for the modem slot to use wifi or Ethernet now. Of course none of the original services exist but some games still have accessible private alternatives, which is pretty cool
I played a lot of Dreamcast.
I can still remember most of my games too.
Soul Calibur
Tony Hawk 2
GTA 2
just those three kept me busy forever.
Soul Calibur DC was so far ahead of it's time... it was also the first game that looked better on console than it did in arcade.
I also had:
Shenmue
Seaman
Maken X
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Crazy Taxi
other than Maken X they were all really good
then I got a PS2 for GTA3 and that was the end of DC

Steam sale stuff, got most cause they were like 70+% off, and also some gifted games.
Shape of Dreams - fun little roguelite thing, Hades/Diablo mashup adjacent
Darksiders Genesis - more traditional hack and slash - bunk ass controls, def needs a gamepad/controller to play well
Megabonk - not bad, but definitely needs work, not as complex and interesting as Vampire Survivors yet, some wonky interactions make certain things frustrating (jumping over a wave of enemies then they suddenly stack World War Z style 50ft into the air then you are stuck on them and can't move and get hit 500 times in a second and die)
V Rising - hack and slash base/home building fun - playing it again for the updated stuff from a while back, but still haven't gotten to that part, but still good
Slay the Spire - not bad, but not too deep into it yet, I know it gets crazier, but pretty basic at the start
I normally just play like 2-3 games a year total, so this was the most I've done in a while

Yeah, I'll still be spending time on that to get to that lastest update's content.
But other than that, mostly waiting around for the Valheim Deep North update now.
And playing occasional WoW Classic stuff with friends, but that's died off mostly.

Just got myself a PS5, in big part to play Baldur's Gate 3 in couch co-op with the wife.
She's literally only played Animal Crossing and Slay the Spire.
Kinda weird that she really wanted to play BG3, but here we are, and she is obsessed with it.

I beat slay the spire a few times and it was fun
but it never clicked enough to do the insane things I’ve seen people do.

StS is a complete addiction.
Getting that perfect combination of cards and relics is just so satisfying.
We got the board game version of it too, which allows for cooperative play. It's fun, but doing all the card admin by hand is a bit slow.

Played Walkabout Mini Golf two-player with the Quest 2 and 3 yesterday
and it was every bit as good as everyone said.
Super fun. Kind of a perfect usecase for VR.

Laser Dance is cool but it (and all other vr) makes me barfy within 20 minutes
Even the mixed reality stuff upsets you? Dang.
Laser Dance looks fun but my home is pretty small
so it looks like you need a decent space for it to be good.

When I briefly worked at GameStop I sold the (food court) Chipotle manager a PSVR bundle and told him not to use it too long when he was starting off because it does weird things to your brain and equilibrium.
He came in the next day to let me know he played for 3 hours non-stop and threw up all night.

Got this working last night. MarioKart and Starfox also have decompiled ports.
Curious how difficult it is to transcribe the process to other games...
