Got to see The Thin Red Line in the theaters last night. Incredible film. What a cast. Very Terrence Malick, lots of nature shots and sunlight beaming out of trees shots. I think it might have run on a bit too long, and maybe too many "soldier pontificating" narratives, and this movie really showed how incredibly terrible John Travolta is at acting, but otherwise, amazing. One of the most insane scenes I've seen in a film, when they take the final ridge from the Japanese, just constant scenes of running through and shooting. I can't imagine how much foresight and planning that particular scene had to have involve, but genius take.
Really worth a watch nowadays. Scary how long ago shit was predicted. Incredible film, although I felt the weird romance with Holden and Dunaway was unnecessary.
Lumet, man. What a director.

Shooooo wee, what a stinker compared to the absolutely amazing Saramago novel, though I dunno if any justice could be done making a movie from it. But this was bad. No soul.

I sure did watch that movie. It was a movie. It had a cast - lots of famous people in the cast there.
that's the ultimate twist, and explains the title: NOW you see it, but you will forget almost everything about it within a few days
