Arcadian (2024) (Hulu)
I feel like this went largely unremarked. Which I get. But it was good.
Not bothering to explain the monsters or the current state of things was a good choice because it lets you focus on how everyone kind of hates each other.

Cage should really zero in on movies where he
1) fights weird monsters (Arcadian, Mandy, Willy's Wonderland, Color Out Of Space, Season of the Witch),
2) is a weird monster (Renfield, Long Legs, Sorcerer's Apprentice),
3) goes on an insane revenge quest (Pig, Vengeance: A Love Story, also Mandy), and
4) National Treasure

Watched Apocalypse Now: Final Cut or whatever in the theaters last night. Goddamn, what a movie.
Haven't watched it in like 15 years, but absolutely one of the best pieces of cinema ever created.
I was a little uncomfortable how the indigenous folk were portrayed in the last third. Like...pretty sure it wouldn't fly nowadays. But, maybe the best set design of all time, with Ran as well.
Amazing to see in the theater. They had a great sound system where the nature sounds and crickets would move when the actors would walk past them. Cool shit. Always thought it was strange that some of the actors (Chef, Lance, Boat Captain) never seemed to get much work after.

Final cut has the French plantation scene, right?
It has...more of it than the original cut, but less than Redux, if I remember correctly. I think they had just enough of it in Final Cut to make a point, but it still feels rather out if place. Like, why didn't Chef and Lance just stay there? Why didn't Kurtz wipe them out?
thrash
so it's a netflix original environmental disaster movie with sharks,
which sets the bar pretty low
but that being said
it definitely exceeded my expectations.
the trailer makes it look like it takes itself more seriously than it actually does,
and there were several times throughout this movie where an (intentionally) hilarious line caught me completely by surprise
particularly in the subplot with the foster kids.
would recommend just for the comic relief

Outfome.
Made it 15 minutes. I audibly gagged when Jonah Hill appeared on screen.
Terrible.

The Uninvited (2009)
Was not expecting Elizabeth Banks in a psychological horror film.
But, like, she's so sweet that it just makes her scarier.
I need to watch it three more times but I don't think that Ely will watch it with me.

but yeah
not good
Keanu was really bad too
felt like he might have been parodying himself
but .. It wasn't clever if so
I need new glasses. I hate that autocorrect only works sometimes when it wants to.
What thread do you think you're in right now.
lol I thought the same but then realized she was responding to bk quoting the misspelling of Outcome
I'm about to rewatch The Uninvited 2009 because it looks good but it is either clumsily written or flat-out boring.
It's from the people who did the American remake of The Ring and Disturbia so it could be both.

i wish u the best of outfomes
Hey, y'all. I'm from outfomes town. Anything fun to do around here?
eat hot chip, cry, etc
Oh well you'll probably need to graduate to a bigger town pretty soon.
The Fifth Element
Still a pretty great time. Kinda ahead of its time, too.
First time for the gf,
who was like "why didn't they give her a sweater"
as the fifth element emerged with her sexy trauma bandages.

I find The Fifth Element kinda gross.
This happens again with a bunch of guys going gaga at the moment she is again babbling like a sexy baby.
The actress is beautiful and sexy absolutely but I remember Milla Jovovich 's breakout role is Return to Blue Lagoon 1991
She was 15 during filming and is a little exploitative
Spoiler
There's that scene I call the Lolita scene when Multipass alien's first experiences are almost childlike. I don't remember much in that scene but i know Bruce Willis character is just thinking this girl is just the sexiest thing he's ever seen and I'm grossed out. This happens again with a bunch of guys going gaga at the moment she is again babbling like a sexy baby.

Makes sense, considering the guy who directed it is a huge pedophile creep.
Yeah, I need that guy to get a multipass to Hell.
How could the guy who wrote and directed The Professional be a pedophile creep.
Evidently he wanted it to be, like, way worse, and everyone was like we're not doing that.
Kinda gross how many people get to stick around and get millions to make films, and how many people still interacts with said people, in the movie industry. Especially after all the metoo and the weinstein shit.
