i'll probably finish the first episode tonight i've been watching bit by bit since it dropped
good to see all the characters still making the worst possible decisions all the time, except my favourite character who i forgot her name but she was bob ross in a halloween episode gone by
or i think she's my favourite character i don't remember

there are so many female characters in that show that look exactly like bob ross, you'll have to be more specific, bud

Lexi (Maude Apatow). She has the biggest fro on the show.

I've been watching Elsbeth without watching the source material.
Today I decided to check out the episodes of The Good Wife and the Good Fight.
Elsbeh is okay - it's a nice how catchum with an occasional whodunit thrown in.
The Good Wife and the Good Fight are not good. I get where they are coming from and what they are trying to do an I appreciate it but they are doing it poorly.

my man
She's the best
and the play she directed was maybe the best sequence in the whole show outside of the first 20min of the 2nd season
the 2nd season is kind of just incredible

Just watched The Boys 5x3.
"tit jizz", Shari Lewis, "hairless p*ssy", "threesome with Gary Busey".

rewatching american horror story: roanoke
i think this is probably the most underrated season of the show
like it's not my favorite, but i think people just hated it because it's so confusing right from the get go.
it's set up like a documentary that intercuts interviews with the real people with dramatic re-enactments, which is fine,
but it's not set up as clearly as it should be
so at the same time you are trying to get to know the characters and premise
you have TWO different casts representing those characters
and it's just...hard to get into.

i know the rule is "show don't tell", but if the first ep had had even a brief few minutes of documentary-style narration introducing the two main characters (with their "real" versions)
BEFORE showing us the "reenactment" versions with a very obvious transition making it clear that this is the actors playing the parts,
the rest of it would flow a lot more naturally.

anyway, if you can get past that,
it's a really fun and unique presentation
and the mid-season swapover is a fun twist
instead of an annoying rug-pull from a rug that you weren't really standing on to begin with

you really don't, though!
like, there are CALLBACKS and little references here and there
but all seasons absolutely stand on their own (or fall on their face)
as self-contained stories
From: stile - is a man of wealth, and taste #875
Date: 04/16/26 @ 11:19 PM
like, i can only think of 2 or 3 characters who even APPEAR in multiple seasons,
and when they do, it's usually just for a single scene

isn't the apocalypse thing a direct sequel to murder house, more or less?

i mean it doesn't really matter since it begins with pretty much everyone on earth dying but it is related.

but yeah you are right the anthology style means that each one is pretty self-contained

ok yeah i considered mentioning that but it's already confusing enough
yes it's a sequel, it's the ONLY season that is a "sequel" to another season in any sense,
but even so, it's self-contained. it's also stupid...definitely one of the stupidest seasons of AHS.
easier just to pretend it never happened.

if you've never seen any AHS
i think the best intros would be asylum or hotel,
because both of those have a familiar and self explanatory premise:
sane person is unjustly held in an asylum,
and burned out cop investigates serial killer in los angeles.
they both have a TON of twists,
but they're easy to get into

Not sure what to think about The Pitt season finale.
Feels like a lot of loose ends.

Marshawn Lynch coming in as a new night shift student doctor was awesome.

It's every episode.
Racism, misogyny, "retard", "faggot", etc.
It's not egregious, but it's not ignorable either. Just a bummer as the rest is great.

i think "problematic" content ages much better when it's from characters who are supposed to be bad people...
i haven't watched venture bros in a while, but as i recall, pretty much everyone is either an idiot or known to be an asshole, right?
so if they use slurs, it just makes their idiot/asshole characterization stronger.

(not sure if that applies in this case, just a general observation)
From: bepto #893

The whole excuse of "no it's that the character is _supposed_ to be bad" falls apart pretty quick when you remember that the characters are imaginary but the writers are real.

Idk but to me there's a pretty obvious gut feeling when a bad character is written as a bigot (for example) to make a statement about bigotry vs written as a bigot to be vessel for all the bigoty jokes the writer wants to say.
