I think something like the PWHL's "gold plan" is good but maybe incomplete fix. The Vancouver Goldeneyes were eliminated a couple weeks ago but they stormed out and beat the Victoire because it would help their draft position.
The NBA has a real problem because the truth is that if you're a starter, you're always at least a little hurt, so nobody can say anything if you sit someone. But I'm not getting on a train to watch Draymond in a hoodie.
I think the Gold Plan is good for a smaller amount of teams and talent pool. Bottom of the league of a 32 team league, I mean those bottom 5 are there for a reason.
kinda just feels like excel dorks cranking themselves off than a solution to any sort of problem

Well, the problem in every sport is that the PAs are weak and the commissioner is a handservant for the owners.
Bottom of the league of a 32 team league, I mean those bottom 5 are there for a reason.
Well, yeah, but if you can identify mismanagement, abuse, absenteeism, etc, with supporting data, there should be measures for that.
Sorry for jumping sports again, but in MLB, which has probably the best players' union in North America, Jeffrey Loria fucked the Expos so bad that they collapsed and reappeared as the Washington Nationals, and not only was Loria not banned, they gave him the brand new Marlins, which, after they raced to a championship, he completely gutted and was like lol you knew what I was when you let me in.
Anyway, I think a league that lets half its teams into the postseason should be able to figure out how to disincentivize the bottom quartile or whatever from reeking on ice.

I was in SLC for a conference and went to a Jazz game. That place rules. The concourse was so open and clean. Just too bad that the Jazz is probably the worst "We're moving but not changing the name" in all of sports.

No, we got you.
I actually have a spreadsheet of disbanded and relocated sports teams. I expected that it would be San Diego, (LA Clippers, Houston Rockets, LA Chargers, Mariners, Sails, Gulls, Barracudas) but it's actually Boston by a decent margin. Anyway, Lakers and Jazz are probably the most egregious name retentions, or the two years that the Titans kept the Oilers name after moving from Houston to Tennessee. Can't think of any examples from the CFL or other Canada sports.

Both the hoops and hockey team missed the opportunity to be the Stormin' Mormons
Or the Soakers. Also a good option.

I mean, yes, but the Mammoth whips. They do need to change the Jazz though, both because it's stupid and also they need to get away from Malone/Stockton.

I thought Yeti was a cool name, but that doofy Yeti cooler company wouldn't allow it.
And yeah nothing funnier than the whitest, nerdiest, weirdest nerd city in America being called the Jazz, lol.

Watched the end of Minnesota-Dallas game. I tried but I could not summon any feelings about it. If Edmonton beats the Ducks, I guess that's okay. Otherwise I have none feelings about the West. So... go Sabres and Flyers? maybe they should just play for the Cup, I'm not sure the West deserves to be there.

Huge lol at Dallass with their shitter goal song performed by a white supremacist but the Mild are a tougher matchup for the Avs
I wish I could like the Ducks cause they have a cool af young core, but their coach, blech. Always have liked the Wild, that's hockey country, and Minnesota was the only state to vote blue in the whole country in the...first or second Reagan election, so that's cool. So they're my vote for the West.
But yeah the West was ass this year. Kings got in with a below .500 win/loss rate, right?

I want to root for the Sabres even though the Flyers are my guys. But like at our neighborhood jawn there are two really old faded pennants up, the Sabres and the Bills, because the owner was from there, and there's something romantic about that.
~~~~~~~~~
Also yesterday we were watching the Boston Fleet and the Ottawa Charge and I remarked to Ely that my hypothesis was that everyone who wore a bubble mask as opposed to the cage was straight. It was just an offhand joke but she spent the entire third period going through every PWHL roster and found that there were only three non-goalie gay players who wear the bubble shield.
I don't remember that area. Is that Full House house area?
Yeah, Alamo Square.
Kilowatt might be good for hockey now!
I bet, we should make it down there. If we get out of the neighborhood, we usually go somewhere by the church or Dolores Park. But also Rikki's just opened at like 17th and Castro and they prioritize women's sports and it rules. When Ely's parents were visiting I was like hey let's get on the F car, it's a piece of history! And then we stopped off and went to Rikki's and Ely was like how did you get my parents to go to a lesbian bar to watch sports and I was like same way you get to Carnegie Hall: practice.
Much to little or no surprise from me, the Flyers are struggling against the Canes. Flyers fans are dumb. We are so far away from being contenders, but once they get a taste of some success, they think we are contenders.
I see why Comcast keeps us in the middle.
Dick stain Tocchet says he has players playing PP who wouldn't be in other teams, while not playing a player, Michkov, on PP, even though he'd be first unit on any other team.
Tocchet is a fucking idiot and it's so hard to watch Flyers hockey.
