Happy Playoffs, everyone.
Is your team in? How you feeling?
Are they out? What do you do now?
The Sharks are mercifully out, but next year's looking good.
I don't think I have a second team. Maybe Edmonton, since they have the most Connor's and Sarah Nurse's cousin.
The Minnesota Frost have clinched, so that's where I'll be putting most of my energy.
I kinda lost interest a couple of seasons ago.
I've watched less than a dozen Penguins games this year.
They apparently weren't supposed to be good at all this season.
I'm glad they're in, but I have no idea what to expect from the team.
At least my second team is the Flyers just in case.
HAHAHAHAHAHA, JK
I had to explain to Ely that Colorado teams are natural enemies of California and especially the Bay (Raiders-Broncos, Giants-Rockies, Warriors-Nuggets, Sharks-Avs), so best of luck to you, I will not be contributing to the pizza party fund.
First time seeing the Flyers in post-season in forever. Feels strange. Hate the coach, doesn't feel as special as it used to be. Kinda in the same boat as haze.
It's hard to catch games anymore since I'm in Turkiye. Hard to stay up at 2 or 3 am when I have to be at work at 730.
the carolina hurricanes are so incredibly boring
The Pens are playing terribly. Maybe next year! Heh...
Feel like y'all will be bottom of the barrel for a while soon, with Letang, Crosby, and Mouth Breather all retiring soon.
Lucky though. You got to see a few Cups. I'm still waiting 😔
Yeah, it's not gonna be good when they're gone. I wasn't watching in '09 so I didn't see that one.
16/17 was amazing, though. I'm glad to have those memories.
2 down, 14 to go.
Avs played like shit and still managed to win
That was a good period of iced canes imo. Thanks, Rust!
Pens are toast. No more playoffs for them and I mean beyond this season.
That sentence does not make any sense, but I think I got my point across.
No, it makes sense. I will be very surprised if Flyers sweep, honestly. I think Pens come in Saturday swinging.
It's been a fluke run by the Flyers. Their special teams were abysmal all year, yet keeping up this series.
I think the bed has already been shat.
I think only 3 or 4 teams have rallied back after down 3-0 in the history of hockey, so yeah probably.
Flyers did it once, against the Bruins. I believe that was the 2010 Cup run. It was glorious.
Bruins are in, but I’m not expecting a very long stay. I didn’t even think they’d be in playoff contention when the season started, so even being here is a bonus.
And now that I live in South Carolina, I suppose I could put on a ‘Canes hat and cheer for the local team, but I don’t see that happening.
The PWHL is doing this thing where once a team is eliminated from the playoffs, all remaining points earned count toward their draft pick order.
So like the Seattle Torrent was eliminated with three games left; they went on to an OT loss (1pt), a regulation W (3pts), and face Montreal on Saturday.
It was conceived as a way to discourage teams from tanking once the postseason is out of reach.
I think only 3 or 4 teams have rallied back after down 3-0 in the history of hockey, so yeah probably.
Toronto (vs Detroit), 1942
Islanders (vs Pittsburgh), 1975
Flyers (vs Boston), 2010
Kings (vs San Jose), 2014
Just imagining it makes me tired.
The fuck you mean I have to win four games in a row.
It is interesting that it took three decades to happen twice and then five years to happen twice again.
Guess the boys are just built different now.
Are the Sharks your team? I forget where you go with hacky.
In the regular season, yes.
I am an unashamed fanboy of '90s expansion/relocation teams, within reason.
Mostly the Tank is one of the best environments I've ever watched a game, the fans kick ass, and I need a reason to get on a train to hate the Ducks.
But also Pavs, Marleau, Thornton, and now Celebrini and Smith and Eklund and Misa make it easy.
Ely loves Macklin, but Sherwood is my guy.
In the postseason, though, it's Quakers all the way.
I'm a Canucks fan, because I hate having nice things.
You're going to get on Diduck's internet and disrespect Pavel Bure like that?
Canucks had nice things, but don't have nice things.
That's true.
Seattle getting the Kraken and Torrent was essentially Vancouver's 9/11.
Imma need the mild and dallass to kill each other for a full 7 games so Manson gets a full 8 days of recovery
idk I feel like goalies get weird if they go more than forty-eight hours without getting between the pipes.
Dude's going to be butterflying in the driveway at 5am.
Wegdewall don't give a fuck
Don't you throw a Devil name at me.
Sucks I can’t watch. Only got to see a little of the second before my power went out.
Can you use vipbox.lc or hti me up for a login.
Youtube.TV will keep the game up for another day if you want a rewatch.
Thanks, it's fine. I'm about to watch the highlights now that the power's restored.
But, hahaha Geno with the shot into the Flyers bench.
I think Geno the Mouth Breather is my least favorite athlete of all time, and I lived while Neal and Cooke were wasting space on the ice.
It's hard to cheer for the Flyers nowadays. Shit coach after shit coach, and an organization that still covets 70s hockey, or chases what the last Cup winner did, but poorly.
the nhl should just put their games on youtube too like the pwhl
That was the most brilliant marketing move, right up with not having team names or brands for the inaugural season.
I think Geno the Mouth Breather is my least favorite athlete of all time
Man, you guys got Eric Lindros on purpose.
Rangers almost got him, actually had an agreement, then the NHL intervened. Fuck that reminded me of Scott Stevens. Now I dunno who is first worst.
lmao how is Scott Stevens ranking in your worst.
Rangers almost got him, actually had an agreement, then the NHL intervened.
Didn't the Nordiques try to draft him and he refused?
Also I'm reminded that Sault Ste Marie tried to recruit him but when the representative showed up he had his whole family there and they were so awful that he was like never mind.
idk who my worsts are.
Chelios, Marchand, Gary Smith....
Avs fan here, but hard not to cheer for the Mammoth now that they're local.
Rough game last night but they were fighting.

Stevens ended the careers of two amazing players, Lindros amd Kariya. All he did was elbow people's heads. He's widely hated! Nordiques did draft Lindros he refused to play there, so eventually Flyers got him. Traded away a young Forsberg for him. Nordiques won a Cup (in Colorado) cause of that damn trade.
I have no feelings about the Mammoth other than I think it's funny when expansion/relocated (shout out to '96 Avs) cause a ruckus in the playoffs.

Aww, Kariya. Saw him on the Ducks, it was really big for Japanese representation in SoCal.
Okay, yeah, fuck Scott Stevens.
They are sure trying hard to create culture, it's still a weird arena until they retrofit again after this season.
It's still primarily a basketball arena so the sightlines are off in some areas.
Mammoth owner creeps me the fuck out.
I was in SLC for a conference and went to a Jazz game. That place rules. The concourse was so open and clean.
Just too bad that the Jazz is probably the worst "We're moving but not changing the name" in all of sports.
