Trump's VA killed a home loan program. Vets are now losing their homes because of it
https://www.npr.org/2026/04/02/nx-s1-5750814/veterans-mortgages-foreclosure-va-rescue
"Foreclosure. Period. That's really where it's gonna come to," warned Elizabeth Balce, representing the Mortgage Bankers Association, at a hearing in March of 2025 before the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

Less than two months later, the Trump administration shut down the rescue program anyway.

Trump’s abrupt U-turn on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz came after backlash from allies
Saudi Arabia, a key Gulf ally, suspended the U.S. military’s ability to use its bases and airspace to carry out the operation, sources say.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/trumps-abrupt-u-turn-plan-re-open-strait-hormuz-came-backlash-allies-rcna343845
Trump surprised Gulf allies by announcing “Project Freedom” on social media Sunday afternoon, the officials said, angering leadership in Saudi Arabia. In response, the Kingdom informed the U.S. it would not allow the U.S. military to fly aircraft from Prince Sultan Airbase southeast of Riyadh or fly through Saudi airspace to support the effort, the officials said.

A call between Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman did not resolve the issue, the two U.S. officials said, forcing the president to pause Project Freedom in order to restore U.S. military access to the critical airspace.

U.S. intelligence says Iran can outlast Trump’s Hormuz blockade for months
https://dnyuz.com/2026/05/07/u-s-intelligence-says-iran-can-outlast-trumps-hormuz-blockade-for-months/
A confidential CIA analysis delivered to administration policymakers this week concludes that Iran can survive the U.S. naval blockade for at least three to four months before facing more severe economic hardship, four people familiar with the document said, a finding that appears to raise new questions about President Donald Trump’s optimism on ending the war.

The democrat senate primary is heating up here in Michigan.
3 candidates
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallory_McMorrow
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haley_Stevens
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_El-Sayed

Stevens is the AIPAC candidate, and also Schumer and Pelosi's pick... so you know she ain't the right one.
Progressive El-Sayed has been running away with it lately in polling, so of course the attacks pick up.
Just got a phone call survey, and after asking all the usual questions it was time for the "I'm going to read some statements and then you tell me if you changed your mind" all the statements were essentially some formulation of "El-Sayed is anti-semitic" (he's not) ... this is all they got.

El-Sayed ran the massive the hospital system here in Detroit and did a great job of it.
He supports single-payer universal healthcare / Medicare-for-all and is endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Rashida Tlaib (my rep).

The Maryland Office of People’s Counsel (OPC), a state agency that represents its utility consumers, filed a complaint before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regarding PJM Interconnection, LLC’s plans to charge it $2 billion of the $22 billion it spent to upgrade its grid to accommodate increasing demand from data centers. According to the OPC’s press release, this $2 billion bill will cost the state’s consumers an extra $1.6 billion in the next ten years alone — that means an extra $823 million for residential (approx. $345 per customer), $146 million for commercial (approx. $673 per customer), and $629 million for industrial customers (approx. $15,074 per customer).

“Without FERC action, Maryland customers face paying billions for transmission infrastructure that PJM is advancing to benefit data centers,” said Maryland People’s Counsel David S. Lapp. “PJM’s cost allocation rules are broken. Maryland customers have neither caused the need for these billions in new transmission projects nor will they meaningfully benefit from them.”

The right wing machine has been gunning for this since before the ink was dry on the Civil Rights Act and VRA.
